Idromar CA250F Carbon filter cartridges work through the chemical and physical properties of activated carbon (adsorption), in some cases combined with the mechanical action of different filter materials.
Aqua uses various types of activated carbon for its cartridges, offering various solutions for different filtration needs and conditions. We favor coconut granular activated carbon, which, due to its specific characteristics, is particularly suitable for treating water and liquids in general.

The key characteristics to consider when evaluating the efficiency of a carbon cartridge are the following:
– PRE-FILTRATION
The presence of an element that treats the water entering the cartridge, performing an initial effective filtering action, with the aim of preserving and extending the efficiency of the carbon over time.
– Filter bed efficiency determined by the quality and quantity of carbon present, in relation to the contact time, i.e., the time the water, passing through the cartridge, remains in contact with the carbon. The longer this contact time is, the more effective the carbon itself is.
– POST-FILTRATION
The presence of an element that provides additional filtering action and removes any suspended carbon dust from the outgoing water.
The simultaneous presence of these three elements causes a pressure drop, which, given the mechanism of action of activated carbon, is essential for achieving maximum results. Therefore, when choosing a carbon cartridge, a consequent, normal pressure drop must be taken into account, which is indicative of proper filtering process performance.
Pre- and post-filtration are particularly well-designed in GAC Aqua cartridges, as they are performed using Melt-Blown filter elements made with the same technology as FR-N cartridges, thus providing excellent filtration. Laboratory tests demonstrate the cartridges’ excellent performance.
