Wound polypropylene yarn cartridges are part of the deformable depth cartridge series. Made from 100% pure, non-toxic polypropylene yarn, these cartridges offer excellent value for money. Despite being commonly classified as budget cartridges, they are designed to provide good nominal filtration levels.
WASHED OPEN-ENDED YARNS CARTRIDGES – 0.2% oil residue. Open-ended washed yarn is produced using machinery that shortens manufacturing processes, thus achieving cost savings on the finished product.
The raw material used is the same as carded yarn, and it is washed after extrusion and drawing to drastically reduce residual oils. However, there is no carding,
the fiber is simply spun around a BCF (continuous filament spinning) core, which makes the yarn uniform and more tenacious. This type of product is less resistant than carded yarn, so the resulting filter cartridge is less compact but still capable of providing a good level of filtration, obviously at a lower cost.
Among the drawbacks, a greater presence of foam may occur when the cartridge is first used, as the BCF core is not washed, so the processing oil, which causes the foam, is not eliminated. In some sectors, the presence of foam, despite being non-toxic, can compromise the success of post-filtration processes. It is therefore advisable to understand the intended use of the cartridges to determine whether one type or another is necessary.
